Vernor Keith Lewis, Sr., 87, of Weatherford, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013, in a Fort Worth hospital. Vernor was born November 30, 1925, in Decatur, Mississippi, to Lonnie Mae and Alfred Johnny Lewis.

Mr. Lewis served in the U.S. Army, 554th Signal Air Warning Battalion. He earned two medals; the World War II Victory Medal and the ATO Medal. He was a home builder and home mover in Florida and was a member of the Home Builders Association and Lions Club. Vernor attended Pentecostals of Parker County with his daughter, Sandra.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Johnson Lewis; daughter, Teresa Keith Lewis; son, Vernor Keith Lewis Jr.; great grandson, Joshua Wayne Parsons; and brother, Carlee “Mac” Lewis.

Survivors include his daughters, Wanda Keith Parsons and Sandra Keith Quidley; granddaughters, Alisa Parsons and husband, J.W. and Elizabeth Keith Quidley; and great grandchildren, Jarret Wesley Parsons and Kayla Marie Parsons.

A private graveside ceremony will be held at Johnson Cemetery at a later date.
