Virginia E. Cox

  Virginia Elizabeth Cox, age 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was born on November 9, 1936, in Garner, Texas, to Dewitt Dews, Sr. and Marian (Baker) Dews. Virginia touched the lives of many with her kind spirit, warmth, and unwavering support for those around her. 

  After high school, Virginia worked in a sewing factory before dedicating herself to the role she cherished most—being a devoted homemaker, caring for her children and home. She also worked for Edwards Laundry, provided home health care later in life, and eventually joined the housekeeping staff for the City of Weatherford. 

  Virginia was always on the move—never one to sit still. She loved spending time outdoors, whether tending to her flowers or mowing the lawn. Her love for animals was evident in the way she cared for them, and her creative spirit shone through in the poetry she wrote in her earlier years. Virginia lived a life filled with purpose, always putting her loved ones first through both her words and actions. 

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Willoughby "W.W." Cox; her parents, Dewitt Dews, Sr. and Marian (Baker) Dews; her brothers, Dewitt Dews, Jr. and Richard Dews; and her beloved aunt, Lena White. Virginia leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. 

  She is survived by her son, William "Bill" Jackson and wife, Kelley, and her daughter, Kelly Berkley, all of Weatherford, Texas. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kevin Berkley and wife, Amber of Harrison, Arkansas; Amy Davis and husband, Scott of Weatherford, Texas; and Brady Jackson of Arlington, Texas. She also adored her three great-grandchildren, Blake, Kylie, and Allie. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Charles Dews of Lubbock, Texas. Virginia will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

   A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. A private burial will follow.
