Virginia Marie Strait, 95, passed away on June 12, 2019 at the Willow Park Rehabilitation and Care Center, Willow Park, TX
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 26, 2019 2:30pm at the McPherson Museum, McPherson, KS. Virginia was born on July 27, 1923 in Macksville, KS to Henry and Pearl Farmer Harman. She grew up with three brothers and six sisters. Virginia had two children and enjoyed being involved in their activities. They spent much time boating and water skiing at their cabin on Cedar Bluff Reservoir. Virginia worked as an Office Manager and Administrative Assistant at several organizations and retired in 1999. In 2006, she moved to Texas. She loved watching tennis, Kansas State and Kansas University basketball as well as Texas Rangers baseball. Virginia loved to sit back, watch the birds fly to the feeders and read a good book. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Larned, KS. In her free time, she joined the Wind Chimes Chorus and went around singing for group functions and at nursing homes. Virginia quilted with her mother and sister Okley for many years. After moving to Texas, she continued quilting with the Bethesda UMC Ladies group and the New Authon Ladies Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, four sisters, and one great-grandson.
Survivors include her son, Glen Strait (Sidney) of Colby, KS; daughter, Karol Binder (Gale) of Weatherford, TX; grandchildren, Marc Strait of Brooklyn, NY, Mike Strait (Heather) of Honolulu, HI, Samantha Shaw (Mike) of The Colony, TX, Jenifer Tatum (Chad) of Weatherford, TX; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Strait of Greeley, CO, Julian Strait of Brooklyn, NY, Taci Tatum of Weatherford, TX, and Crosbi Tatum of Weatherford, TX; brothers and sisters, Joe Harman (Patty) of Hutchinson, KS, Bob Harman (Kay) of McPherson, KS, Okley Strawn (deceased 6/19/2019) of McPherson, KS, and Mabelle Muller of Kansas City, MO; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
