Wanda Fay Gober

December 24, 1934 — October 23, 2022

Wanda Gober, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother has passed on October 23rd, 2022, in Weatherford, Texas, at the age of 87. Wanda was born on December 24th, 1934, in Johnston City, Illinois. In the last few years of her life Wanda endured Parkinson’s disease and dementia which led to her death of natural causes.

Wanda was devout Christian and wife; nothing could shake her faith nor her love for her predeceased husband, Jessie. She was an amazingly knowledgeable and witty person, known for her skill and quick jokes. Prior to her retirement, she was a respiratory therapist, medical assistant, and nursery school attendant from which she acquired many interesting tales which she loved to share with her family. Even more so than her wit, she was well known for her kindness and generosity to all. She had many animals over her life and always welcomed more. Besides her many dogs and cats, she had geese, peacocks, and even a diaper-wearing racoon named Baby. Beyond her fondness for animals, she was incredibly loving and charitable to those around her. Giving in all manners by whatever means she was able; always there when she was needed; always thinking of others first. On several occasions she even opened her home to those who had nowhere else to go.

Her family meant more to her than anything. She made every effort to be with them as much as possible. Wanda is survived by her daughter, Lisa Clutts; grandson, Ryne Dingler and his fiancée; granddaughter, Ashley Dingler and fiancée; and great-grandchildren, children of Ashley, Kamden Dingler and Ellie Tidwell. She is also survived by the children of her late husband, David Gober and his wife; Tanya Hicks and her husband; and Donna Gober. She was predeceased by her father, Noble Rains; stepmother, Juanita Spears; brother, Charles Rains; sister, Delores Rains; and son of her husband, Donald Gober.

Though her struggles with dementia and Parkinson’s disease debilitated her condition, mentally and physically, she will always be remembered by her friends and family as a pillar of strength. Her incredible character and love will leave a lasting impression on anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. Every moment spent with her will be cherished forever.
