Wanda Jean Crum Boyd

Wanda Jean Crum Boyd, 95, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Wanda was born September 9, 1927, on the family farm at Winn Hill, Jack County, Texas, to James Albert Crum and Romie Lorene Williams Crum. Wanda attended school at Jermyn and graduated from Jacksboro High School. She then attended Weatherford Junior College where she met Walter Eugene "Gene" Boyd. They were married in 1946 and raised their 3 children in Weatherford. Wanda worked at General Dynamics for many years and in 1973 when Gene retired from the Post Office, they moved to their ranch in Coleman, Oklahoma to raise cattle. In 1981, they moved back to Parker County and lived at Millsap. Wanda helped Gene and lifelong friends open and run Lambert Switch BBQ for several years. They continued to raise cattle, travel with friends and enjoyed dances at area senior centers 3-4 times a week. They were members of the Sensational Senior Singers in Weatherford. Wanda was a member of the Millsap Neighborhood Home and Garden Club, Millsap United Methodist Church, and, along with Gene, was a founding member of the Millsap Heritage Society.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Boyd; brothers, Edward Crum and Leslie Crum; infant brothers, Charles Richard Crum and Everett Leroy Crum; sisters, Thelma Leatherwood, Verda Lee King, Barbara Newton, and Judy Laughlin.

Wanda is survived by sons, Larry Boyd (Linda) and Greg Boyd (Brenda) and daughter, Dru Ann Starnes (Wayne) all of Weatherford; grandchildren, Doug Boyd, Diane Spangler, Jason Fry, Jeremy Fry, Jonah Boyd and Holli Boyd; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Gwen Fitzgerald of Jacksboro, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful employees at Hilltop Park Rehab, especially Donovan, Marissa, Kameesha, Tracy and Kaitlin; and Maria and Angie from Beyond Faith Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086. A time of visitation will begin two hours prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow at Lemley Cemetery, in Weatherford, Texas.
