Waymon David Hamilton, age 74, passed from this life Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at a local hospital. Waymon was born December 4, 1942, in Weatherford, Texas, to Henry and Cleta Montgomery Hamilton. Waymon grew up on the north side of Weatherford and was a strong advocate of revitalizing this area.
Waymon was a Retail Sales Manager, former Convenience Store Owner, and Real Estate Agent. Prior to being elected to the City Council, Waymon served on Planning and Zoning, Utility Board, and the Economic Development Board. Waymon served 17 years as a Weatherford City Councilman. He was active in the community as a member of the North Side Baptist Church, the Chamber of Commerce, and was an avid supporter of local youth programs.
Waymon is survived by his wife, Carolyn Hamilton of Weatherford; daughters, Deanna Hucabee of Flower Mound, Donna Anderson and husband, Scott of Millsap, Shannon Stubblefield and husband, Bryan of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Janna Smith and husband, Mike of Weatherford; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, June 23, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with Funeral Service to be held Saturday, June 24, 2017, 10:00 a.m., in the North Side Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Side Baptist Church Building Campaign, 910 N. Main, Weatherford, Texas or the Kidney Foundation.
