Wayne Thurman Thompson was born June 13, 1926, in Parker County, son of the late Clarence and Loree Rater Thompson. Initially, Wayne made his career in the dairy business after graduating from Texas A&M but soon thereafter went to pharmacy school in Houston and after graduation started his own pharmacy in Weatherford, which he operated for more than 40 years. Until about a month ago, Wayne had been assisting at Davis City Pharmacy.
In his free time, Wayne would gather his own eggs and milk the cows. He had farming in his blood. However, most of all, Wayne loved to fish. He had a great work ethic and kept his word. Wayne was a member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church for most of his life.
Wayne was preceded in death by his sons, Joe Thompson and Jeffrey Thompson; and his parents.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Nell Thompson; sister Kathy Densmore and husband, Glen; grandchildren, Amanda Hayes, Stephanie Thompson, Jerad Thompson, and Cody Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loving family and friends.
