Wilene Layne White, 84, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28 2010, in Weatherford.
Wilene was born to Marvin A. and Jessie Halbrooks Layne on Dec. 20, 1926. Wilene’s family has lived in Parker County since the 1850’s. Wilene grew up in and graduated High School in Peaster, Texas. After High School, Wilene worked in the office of the Parker County Tax Assessor-Collector. She met, fell in love with and married Sanford W. White in 1948. Sanford was accepted to the Foreign Service and served as a USAID Officer in several South American countries. Wilene and Sanford became the parents of daughter, Cynthia, and sons, Sanford Mark and Ralph. Sanford retired from government service in 1977 and he and Wilene returned to live on the family farm in Peaster and then later moved to Willow Park. Sanford passed away in 2000. Because of her life experiences, Wilene was a proud liberal and supporter of many organizations. Above all, she was a loving, generous mother and adoring grandmother.
Survivors – Daugher Cynthia White and son-in-law, Eldon Hager of Willow Park. Son, Sanford Mark White, and daughter-in-law, Carol of McKinney. Son, Ralph White of Little Rock, Ar. Grandsons Steven and Kevin White of McKinney and Layne and Neal White of Little Rock, Ar. Brother, Marvin Eugene Layne, and sister-in-law, Doris of Arlington.
Graveside service will be held at 11 am, Friday, December 31, 2010 in Zion Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Thursday, December 30, 2010.
