W.O. “Cotton” Garrett, 99, passed away Sunday, January 7th, 2018. He was born December 7, 1918 in Trinidad, Texas to SC and Minnie Smith Garrett. W.O. served in WWII from 1942-1946. He was in Army Air Corp, 863rd Bombardier Squadron Division from San Angelo, Texas. He trained cadets how to use the bomb sites. W.O. served in the Philippine Islands, Manilla, New Guinea, East Indies and Leyte.
His company was one of the first liberators for the Philippine Islands. W.O. was preceded in death by his wife Marie, son Ronnie, grandson, Seth, his parents and several brothers and sisters.
W.O. is survived by three daughters, Sharon Covington and husband Larry of Weatherford, Melinda Martin of Granbury and Melody Burnett and husband Don of Weatherford, as well as 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Plus for their caring service to our Dad.
Funeral: 11 a.m, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at North Side Baptist Church with interment to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation: 6-8 p.m., Wednesday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to North Side Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
