William David “Bill” Coursey, 75, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on September 6, 2020, at his home.
Bill was born on September 13, 1944, in Fort Worth, Texas to Thomas and Helen Coursey. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves. Bill attended the University of Texas and North Texas State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting.
Bill’s real passion in business was sales, where he made his career as a sales representative in the food service industry. He was affectionately known as “Wild Bill” to his colleagues and won numerous distinguished sales awards throughout his career. Bill retired from US Foodservice in 2014 to spend more time with his family.
Bill enjoyed numerous activities including golf, fishing, cooking, music, reading, and watching old westerns. He loved coaching youth sports and was passionate about his Texas Longhorns. Bill was active in the Weatherford Evening Lions Club and recently joined Central Christian Church. He enjoyed taking care of his yard and garden, but above all else, Bill loved being a husband to his wife Beth, a father, and a grandfather.
Bill is survived by his wife, Beth Coursey of 43 years; his children, Christina (Jeff) Westgate of Nacogdoches, Texas, Randi (James) Reid of Washington, DC, Chad (Emily) Coursey of Germantown, Tennessee, and Bill, Jr. (Meredith) Coursey of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Charles Coursey, Calla Reid, Grayson Reid, Beckett Reid, Thomas Coursey, Sam Coursey, Cate Coursey, Elizabeth Coursey, Easton Coursey, William Coursey; and by his sister, Kathleen Walters of Missoula, Montana. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Helen Coursey.
Bill will affectionately be remembered for his sense of humor and his strong love for his family especially his children and grandchildren. He will be missed greatly.
Due to the restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family “Celebration of Life” will be held at Central Christian Church in Weatherford, Texas.
If one so wishes, donations may be made in memory of Bill to Central Christian Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
