William (Bill) Doil Hudson

William Doil (Bill) Hudson, 81, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away in his home, Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Bill was born June 14, 1941, in Ft Worth, Texas, to Doil Wesley and Marye Francis (Helvey) Hudson of Weatherford, where he grew up with his two younger sisters, Stella and Marye Ann. Bill graduated from Weatherford High School in 1959. He attended The University of Texas in Austin and Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU.

Bill worked for many years in banking and real estate. He enjoyed years of playing golf and hunting with his father, close friends and sons. He also had a passion for flying and volunteer service and was a pilot for a number years as well as serving with Bill Glass Prison Ministries and Habitat for Humanity. He was known by his dear friends as Billy Fred.

After the birth of his first two grandchildren, Bill was often simply called Daddy Bill by his family who will all greatly miss him, his ever-present wit, sense of humor, willingness to lend a helping hand and unwavering, positive outlook on life.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara Glover Gamblin. They met in elementary school and attended junior high and high school together. They reconnected in 2009 at their fifty-year high school reunion and were married in August 2012.

He is also survived by his sister, Stella Hudson Parrish, former spouse, Linda Hudson, mother of his children, Leslie Hudson Goldman, Clay Hudson and Collin Hudson, his four grandchildren, Lindsey Hudson Chen, Brena Huddleston, Cole Goldman and Clayton Goldman, his five great-granddaughters, Luna Goldman, Ruby Huddleston, Leiel Chen, Hatley Huddleston, Emma Goldman, son-in-law, Darrell Goldman, husband to Brena, Philip Huddleston and fiancé to Cole, Samantha Blankenship.

Friends and family will only gather for a time of visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
