William Glenn Kaufman

William Glenn Kaufman, age 75, of Weatherford, went to be with God on Friday, May 27, 2022. He was born in Saint Louis, Missouri, on March 7, 1947, to William and Esther Kaufman.

William served in the United States Navy for 27 ½ years. He enlisted as a Sailor during Vietnam and later in his career became an officer, achieving the rate of Lieutenant Commander before retiring. William served on every commissioned aircraft carrier during his service from 1967-1992. William exhibited many skills in various roles including as an Aviator and Aircraft Carrier Command Staff Officer in charge of computer systems for the entire Carrier Fleet.

William received two National Defense Service Medals, two Good Conduct Awards, two Navy Commendations, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, a Navy “E” Ribbon, three Navy Expeditionary Medals, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, two Humanitarian Service Medals, two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, and an Expert Pistol Shot Medal.

William attended North Side Baptist Church with his family in Weatherford before becoming ill.

William is survived by his children, Michael Chase of San Diego, Tony Kaufman and wife, Katy of San Diego, and Jenn Shepherd and husband, John of Weatherford; sister, Virginia Martin of St. Louis; brother, Jose Berrios Candelaria and wife, Maria of San Juan, Puerto Rico; nephews, Greg Martin and wife, Lynn of New York, and Glenn Martin; grandchildren, Shane and Sydney Chase, Christina Bouldin, William and Sara Chase, Elizabeth Chase, Sylver and Rachael Kaufman, Enoch Kaufman, Noah Kaufman, Liam Kaufman, Tyler and Dannika Kaufman, Katelyn Gauci, Joseph Gauci, Briley Gauci, and John David Shepherd, Jr.; and great grandchildren, Malia Bouldin, Phillip Charles Bouldin III, Theodore William Kaufman, and Lauson Makoa Chase.

William was preceded in death by his parents, William and Esther Kaufman; his wife, Andrea Kaufman, and daughter, Catherine Marie Chase Foster.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, in Weatherford.

We will be gathering after the service at Fire Oak Grill for refreshments and sharing stories and memories.

Donations in lieu of flowers benefiting charities near to Bill’s heart would be welcome.
