William L. (Bill) McDonald of Weatherford, Texas, peacefully passed away at age 78, following a brief yet courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was born in Abilene, Texas, to Leon and Albera McDonald, alongside his cherished sister Ernestine. Following his graduation from Southwest Texas State University with his degree in Education, Bill embarked on a fulfilling career in Teaching. Over the years, he imparted knowledge to countless students in subjects ranging from Drafting to Marketing and Driving Education. In June of 1972, Bill married the love of his life, Della Rose Willard, and together they had their son Cameron. Later, Cameron met his wife Peggy, and the family rejoiced in welcoming their daughter Maia, whom both Della and Bill adored.
Bill was a beacon of kindness to all he encountered and absolutely loved a good story or chance to extend a helping hand. His smile and laughter would light up a room and brighten even the darkest day. He was well known for the cakes he would bake and deliver to those around town as well as the cards that he would send to uplift and console the people he loved. He found solace and joy in traversing the roads of Texas, reminiscing over cherished memories of journeys past at his favorite mile markers.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Albera and his beloved wife, Della.
He is survived by a loving family who already feels the void of his absence and looks forward to being reunited with him in the kingdom of Heaven.
In honoring Bill’s wishes, there will be no formal service.
In lieu of flowers or memorial donations, we kindly ask that those who consider Bill a friend share a story, help someone in need, or provide words of encouragement to someone who needs them.
