William Tony Mays

  William Tony Mays, age 75, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was born on March 2, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, to William Mays and Helen Shearman Mays.

  William proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service, he earned a Bachelor's degree and began a fulfilling career with the Fort Worth Police Force. He later transitioned into Oil Field Management as an Engineer, where he made significant contributions to the industry. A devoted member of Poolville Global United Methodist Church, William found joy in hunting and fishing, activities that he cherished throughout his life.

  He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his son, Kyle Tony Mays, who passed away in May of 2007, as well as William's sister, Connie Shukers, who left us in March of 2009.

  William is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Tina Mays of Weatherford, Texas; his daughter, Lyndi Dianne Howle (Emory); his son, Tony Shayne Mays (Sophia Broughton); his daughter, Joedi Rhianne Mays; and his cherished grandchildren, Christopher Mays, Dylan Mays, and Parker Mays. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Sherry Turner, Cathy Dorsett (Randy), and Bill Mays (Cathy), who will carry forward his legacy with fond memories.

  A funeral ceremony to honor William’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas, with reception to follow at Zion Hill Community Center on the corner of Zion Hill and Johnson Bend.

  William will be remembered for his devotion to family, service to his country, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
